Being able to stand strong like a tree can be a real asset. Deeply rooted into the earth a tree can flex and bend with the currents of life and weather the storms. They give and they receive in a natural flow with all others they inhabit the earth with. They are fed not only by the earth, but by the sun and rain, essentially connected to all of life. Tap into your core strength and be that strong, stable presence that can sustain the craziness all around.
Let’s look at Phase III: Core Strength. With this Phase, or session, we balance the side fibers which have to do with those things you give and those things you receive in your life. We also make sure that your core energy is connected down into the earth energies and up into the higher energies so that there is a free flow. With the session you then learn to radiate your core energy out like a fluorescent beam which essentially enables you to hold your strength and peace no matter what is going on around you. This blog post addresses how holding your core can not only help yourself but others too.
Common situations you may notice:
The trees, primarily Spruce, Firs and Scotch Pine bring the glorious forest inside.
Take a deep breath and join with the strength of the trees to ground and stand strong, with the necessary flexibility to bend with the winds of change. I’ve always found the forest nourishing to my soul and this feeds that connection quite well.
Clearly this woodsy blend supports you in holding your Core strength. Spraying it into the air and breathing it in with support your respiratory system to expand and stay healthy – keep your blood oxygenated and feed your body what it needs! You can spray it on your hands and hold the center of the palms to support your Diaphragm Meridian. On a more subtle level, this can help to support your integrity and courage to live your individual truth amongst all your forest friends of life.
Breathing. Have you thought about it lately? For most of us, we let our unconscious deal with it. And thankfully it works, but to what degree? Take a moment and pay attention to how you are breathing. Does your belly round out as you take an in-breath? Does your chest expand?
Typically we breath into our chest rather than our belly, resulting in a fraction of the oxygen getting into our blood system (less than 1/10 liter of blood flows through the top of the lungs-the chest breath, as opposed to over a liter through the bottom of the lungs-the belly breath) which causes the heart to work harder. I’m sure you see where this is heading. Enough said.
Chest-breathing is wired into the anxiety-producing mechanisms of the body, while belly-breathing is wired into the relaxation-producing mechanisms. Simply by breathing deeply, into your belly, you will notice changes in your physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Two facts: It is not possible to feel anxious while breathing abdominally. If you tell the truth, your body relaxes slightly. So, take a big belly-breath and after the out-breath, say something true. Anything will do but it must be unarguable. “Today is Tuesday.” “I’m sitting in a chair.” Keep it simple. Just take a deep, relaxed, full breath, and tell the truth. This puts the body and mind into alignment, freeing your attention to focus on the task at hand.
Catch yourself as soon as possible after a negative experience, take 3 deep breaths, and change your body position (shake it off, stretch, jiggle-see what works for you). Part of the mechanism of a bad mood is shallow breathing and frozen body postures; don’t let the negativity settle down into your body. Breath and shake!
The human body is designed to discharge 70% of its toxins through breathing, so breathe deeply and let go of the garbage (physical and emotional!).
Sometimes you know you’re not feeling as well as you could, but you don’t have any diagnosable issues. This is sooooo common!!! You have to be pretty ‘far off’ to test positive for a mainstream problem that western medicine can treat. And, truth be told, the percentages that can be helped with our aggressive therapies are quite low. My opinion is that it is, in part, due to the limited view of only treating the symptoms, not the deeper imbalance. But illness and disease is not my business – wellness is. I am not a medical professional and I am extremely thankful that we have those professionals and technologies available to us when we need them.
So – to get back on track…
Let us continue to look at a series of easy self care, quick release techniques to help you feel better. The body can regenerate and restore when the energy is flowing. With Jin Shin, we work with the acupressure points on the body using light touch to release stress and tension.
Remember that you can work on yourself or use these points to work on a client. For Quantum Touch students/practitioners, holding these points while doing QT really pumps up the effectiveness. These are quick release points. Quantum Touch Class Info
This month we are peeking into the Diaphragm Flow which connects spirit and body through breath and blood. It is symbolized as the “doorway” between the spirit world and the physical world. It brings the spirit’s fire force into physical form.
I was driving home from the city yesterday and saw the follow yellow blinking sign:
Trucks Leaving Highway
Do Not Follow
I had to laugh. Just how many people had to actually do that to cause the state to have to post it? And then, of course, the visual of a line of cars following a truck into a construction area and the confusion that could possibly cause - funny stuff.
I was thinking about Maslow’s Theory of Motivation today (one of the few things I remember from college for some reason) and how it relates to our present day lives.
We have needs. We have desires. Do we really know the difference between them anymore?
Are we still motivated in the same way we once were? How has that changed, if it has, to adapt to the world we live in now? And what direction are we going?
In doing a quick search, I was happy to see that his model is still alive and well. And has been updated. We still ultimately seek self-actualization and transcendence.
Basically, Maslow’s Theory of Motivation (developed in the 1940-50′s) states that human beings are motivated by unsatisfied needs, and that certain lower factors need to be satisfied before higher needs can be satisfied. According to Maslow, there are general types of needs (physiological, survival, safety, love, and esteem) that must be satisfied before a person can act unselfishly.
Then I listened to an NPR show For Mature Audiences Only: Video Game Ratings and I began to wonder how influential our entertainment and advertisement is in keeping us focused in and on our basic needs, thus preventing us from naturally developing our human potential. Hmmm… that has always been my opinion but it seemed to show up in my face today.
Much like life, you can fight it or go with the flow. Going with the flow, navigating your way through the waters of change will prove most useful.
However, just cutting loose and going wild has its benefits, but those in your vicinity may get slammed up against the wall by your unleashed raw power and, once they peel themselves off and get amongst peers will create jokes in your honor, then tremble in your presence.
Ok, an exaggeration perhaps, but face it. We are coming into our years of being a Crone ~ a Wise Woman ~ So let’s make the most of it and enjoy it, shall we? BE the powerful, beautiful woman you are transforming into.
YOU GO GIRL!!!!
Whew – I’m sweaty … again
We’re here to give our best – where shall we begin?
It is a time of change, a time of opportunity. It takes courage, strength, trust and certainly a good sense of humor. Do you want to continue on with what ‘has been’ or are you ready for something new? A new way to direct your life?
Perhaps you feel the squeeze? As Anais Nin said “There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
Is it time for you to blossom? To take charge – not in a warrior-like way, but with the grace and power of a woman? Yeah, me too.
