Detoxification

Someone asked me about detoxing and this is the article I was trying to locate. So I thought I would just share it with all of you.

His focus is clearly on the physical body but/and we also hold toxins in our energy field. Energy work helps to keep your systems flowing freely which is mandatory for them to efficiently support our physical structures. But more on that later. Now … on to the article….

Most of us cannot escape to a safe haven, free from toxins and pollutants. The air that we breathe is polluted, the water that we drink is full of chlorine, the clothing we wear is made of artificial fabrics and chemicals, the lotions and shampoos that we use all contain chemicals. Once these chemicals are inside us, we can never fully eliminate them unless we undergo a detoxification process. As a result, most of us need some form of detoxification. It is one of the best ways to remain healthy in a polluted and toxic environment.

Signs that Detoxification is Needed

  • If you have unexplained headaches or back pain
  • If you have joint pain or arthritis
  • If your memory is failing
  • If you are depressed or lack energy
  • If you have brittle nails and hair
  • If you have abnormal body odor, coated tongue or bad breath
  • If you have an unexplained weight gain
  • If you have psoriasis
  • If you have frequent allergies
  • If you have a history of heavy alcohol use
  • If you have a history of natural and synthetic steroid hormone use.
  • If you have an exposure to cleaning solvents, pesticides, diuretics and certain drugs

6 Stretches To Do at your Desk

Relieve tension in your wrists, back, and shoulders at work.

By Elise Browning Miller & Carol Blackman

Side Stretch

This is a great stretch to relieve computer-related tension in your wrists and to stretch your sides. It will also help relieve lower back tightness.

Stand with your feet hip-width apart and parallel. Inhale and stretch your arms out to the sides and then over your head with your palms facing each other. Exhale as you take hold of your left wrist with your right hand. With an inhalation, stretch the fingers of your left hand to the ceiling. Exhale as you gently stretch to the right, drawing out your left arm and wrist with the right hand, and move your hips to the left simultaneously. Keep your head and left arm in alignment with the torso. Don’t drop your left arm in front of your face. Feel this stretch on the entire left side of your body, from your hips to your fingertips. Keep your feet solidly planted on the floor by pressing firmly down with your outer left heel. Continue to breathe softly as you stretch to the right, particularly noticing the deep stretch in the left rib cage as the breath enters your left lung. Inhale as you come back to center. Exhale and switch hands. Holding your right wrist with your left arm, inhale as you reach up through the fingers of your right hand. Exhale as you stretch to the left. Continue to breathe as you stretch to the left side. Inhale and return to the center. Repeat this sequence on each side.

Wind Beneath My Wings

So as I was driving down the gorge this morning I was thinking about a conversation I recently had about leaving the nest, spreading our wings and flying.  And this could be any situation that you have found comfortable (home, job, relationship, mindset, preconceived ideas …) but you also know or sense it is about time to move on – to spread your wings and fly out into the bigger world.

Right as I finished that thought, something caught my eye off to the left. As I looked over I saw a bald eagle flying alongside me. Whoa – beautiful – inspiring – stunning against the snow dusted gorge. Yeah, time to spread wings and fly. What about you? Time to broaden your perspective, your vision, your life?

The Low Down on my Aromatherapy – an interview

Suzanne Schevene interviewed by Jade Shutes, founder of The East-West School for Herbal & Aromatic Studies

January 2012

What brought you to the study of aromatherapy and natural lifestyles?

Actually I was drawn to them at the Seattle Health and Wellness Expo in 1990.  My children were little and I wanted to raise them in the healthiest way possible – oh the stories I could tell of the rock solid birthday cakes I made as I began the journey into whole grains. But I digress.

Aromatherapy caught my attention at such a deep level that it is a bit hard to describe, but similar to finding something that had been a part of your life long, long ago and you are being reunited. Not a conscious remembering, but more of a soul recognition.

That opened to door to the study of wellness in all its forms and I’ve been on that journey ever since.

What inspired you to create your line of products?

So many of us have had the experience of living in survival mode. And many are feeling complete with that and ready to move on into actually thriving and upleveling the quality of life. My piece in this to-date has been offering and teaching personal empowerment through energy work. But that only reaches those who are drawn to energy work. Continue reading

Intentions and Commitments

The first of the year is always an inspiring time for me. I love to take a look at the direction that the new year will seemingly take and then be open to new twists and turns as they appear.

An intention is a direction, an aspiration, a big picture goal. It’s a statement of what you are moving towards. I intend to take better care of myself or I intend to play more.

A commitment is an act of will and integrity. It is giving your word to follow through on something. I commit to working out 3 times this week or I am committed to doing something just for the fun of it every week in January.

It’s important to keep your commitments – and that begins with the commitments to yourself. If you don’t trust your ability to be honest with yourself, how can you trust yourself in anything you say or think, much less anyone else? But if there is some reason that it really can’t happen, renegotiate the commitment in good faith as soon as you can.

Committing to huge goals can be setting yourself up for failure. Instead, intend the huge goal, but use smaller, consistent commitments to get there. One step at a time. Just one, small committed step.

Move into this exciting new year with awareness of your intentions and commitments – and make it the BEST one yet!!!

30 Things to Start Doing for Yourself

No worries – you don’t have to start doing all 30 this week. Or ever. And I promise you there is no quiz next month to see how you do. But be forewarned – it may have the snowball effect on you – engage one or two and you just might find yourself leaning into these ideas more and more as you feel lighter and brighter as the days go on. Open to the possibilities. Enjoy!

This is a guest post by Marc at http://www.marcandangel.com. Here it is, a positive ‘to-do’ list for the upcoming year – 30 things to start doing for yourself:

  1. Start spending time with the right people. – These are the people you enjoy, who love and appreciate you, and who encourage you to improve in healthy and exciting ways.  They are the ones who make you feel more alive, and not only embrace who you are now, but also embrace and embody who you want to be, unconditionally.
  2. Start facing your problems head on. – It isn’t your problems that define you, but how you react to them and recover from them.  Problems will not disappear unless you take action.  Do what you can, when you can, and acknowledge what you’ve done.  It’s all about taking baby steps in the right direction, inch by inch.  These inches count, they add up to yards and miles in the long run.
  3. Start being honest with yourself about everything. – Be honest about what’s right, as well as what needs to be changed.  Be honest about what you want to achieve and who you want to become.  Be honest with every aspect of your life, always.  Because you are the one person you can forever count on.  Search your soul, for the truth, so that you truly know who you are.  Once you do, you’ll have a better understanding of where you are now and how you got here, and you’ll be better equipped to identify where you want to go and how to get there.  Read The Road Less Traveled.
  4. Start making your own happiness a priority. – Your needs matter.  If you don’t value yourself, look out for yourself, and stick up for yourself, you’re sabotaging yourself.  Remember, it IS possible to take care of your own needs while simultaneously caring for those around you.  And once your needs are met, you will likely be far more capable of helping those who need you most.
  5. Start being yourself, genuinely and proudly. – Trying to be anyone else is a waste of the person you are.  Be yourself.  Embrace that individual inside you that has ideas, strengths and beauty like no one else.  Be the person you know yourself to be – the best version of you – on your terms.  Above all, be true to YOU, and if you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it. Quiet the Chaos, Increase your Stamina

Are you wound up from the holidays or still in the midst of it? When you get into the overwhelm of stress and exhaustion, your meridians begin to run backwards, compelling you to rest. This makes you feel even more zapped.

Tap or rub your K-27 points (see below) to restore the natural direction of the meridian flow. This gives you increased stamina. In fact, Tapping or rubbing your K-27′s is a simple exercise that will energize you if you are feeling drowsy and help you focus if you are having difficulty concentrating.

To tap your K-27 points do the following:
1. Place your fingers on your K-27 points.
2. Tap or rub vigorously for 15-30 seconds.
3. Focus on your breathing, in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Not sure if you’re tapping the right spot? To locate your K-27 points:

  • Place your fingers on your collarbone and move them inward towards the U-shaped notch at the top of your breastbone.
  • Move your fingers to the bottom of the U and then move down and out about an inch to find the spots.
  • For most people there is a soft spot or indentation there at the location of their K-27 points.

Transformative Coaching in 2012

As many of you know I’ve been involved with the Feminine Power Mastery program for the last 18 months. And for the last 11 years those of us involved with the EMF Balancing work have been called ‘evolving evolutionaries.’

Let me define these terms: an evolutionary is someone who understands that the transformation of our world depends upon our willingness to evolve ourselves and is committed to making that happen. Feminine Power, unlike masculine power which is the power to create those things that can be controlled, feminine power is the power to create those things that are beyond our control, but which our hearts most deeply long for such as love, care, connection, self expression, creativity, right livelihood and meaningful contributions to the world with a brighter future for generations to come.

I’ve been working with the the same desire and commitment all along and now offer it in different formats. Energy work, Body work or Coaching work – all based on the empowered yin or feminine power that has largely laid quiet for quite a while. Oh but the times they are a changin’.  :)

Currently I am in the Feminine Power Transformational Coaching and Leadership Program which I am most excited about. And in early 2012 I will be offering one-on-one coaching to help you rock your world by transforming some aspect of your life. It’s powerful, dynamic and not for the meek. It takes courage and commitment to shift at this level, and I will be with you each step of the way. It’s a 7 week program and I’ll have more information available fairly soon.

I look forward to stepping into this next stage of my commitment to be in service to the uplift and flourishing of the world, supporting you to step into the life of your dreams.
