Jin Shin – Large Intestine Meridian

Let us continue to look at a series of easy self care, quick release techniques to help you feel better. The body can regenerate and restore when the energy is flowing. With Jin Shin, we work with the acupressure points on the body using light touch to release stress and tension.

Remember that you can work on yourself or use these points to work on a client. For Quantum Touch students/practitioners, holding these points while doing QT really pumps up the effectiveness. These are quick release points not full flows that a practitioner would likely use.

The function of the Large Intestine Meridian is to create structure for communication of our instincts and inner workings of our mind in developing ideas, writing and speaking. It supports proper elimination. It helps generate evolution and change.

Do you notice any of these tendencies in yourself? Asthma, colon discomfort, constipation, diarrhea, upper lip tense or swollen, index fingers stiffen, shoulders ache, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, cold sores on lips, tumors, general lumps and bumps, grief, sorrow, melancholy, feeling physically weak, diminished common sense and sense of humor, insecurity, immaturity, negative attitude, emotional imbalance. This month we are peeking into the Liver Meridian.

Do you notice any of these tendencies in yourself? Anger, irritability, excessive need to control, inability to focus and plan, excessive mentality, fatigue, jealousy, passive-aggressive tendencies, muscle, ligament and tendon problems, stiff neck, voice issues – can’t swallow, nails weak, acid reflex, herpes.

The general function is to bring mental clarity and the power to focus, plan and make decisions.

Quick Check & Self Help: Hold the neck off to one side just a bit at the base of the skull, and on the opposite side of the body the 14 (along the base of the rib cage below the sternum and off to the side a couple inches). Remember too to take nice full, deep breaths and hold a positive mindset.

Generally speaking, if you are not able to feel a pulse, it is likely that there is a blockage. If the pulses are erratic, there is a restriction or overflow involved. When there is free flow in the meridian, you will feel both points pulsing in harmony with one another.

  • Visualize the hands as jumper cables. Just apply – no strength is required. There is no need to rub or massage.
  • Relax. If you are unable to relax, just be as you are. Trying takes effort and can be counter productive
  • You may sit, stand or lie down – whatever is most comfortable for you
  • Simply apply your hands for a few minutes at a time until you can feel an even rhythmic pulsation
  • Jumper-cabling can be done at any time of day. It is the daily application that will accomplish results.

What is Jin Shin? Jin Shin is a Japanese healing art that dates back at lease 5,000 years. Virtually all traditional healing systems – from Ayurvedic to Greek and Chinese – are founded on the principle that in order to heal the body, the person must strengthen and balance the flow of life energy within.

This month we are peeking into the Gall Baldder Flow.

Do you notice any of these tendencies in yourself? Arthritis, cancers, cheek/back of ear pain, digestive problems, joint pain, eyes at outer corners – achy and crusty, shoulder/upper arm or elbow pain, feeling of disconnectedness or overly attached, lethargic, space cadet, rash decisions, need to control as well as indecision and timidity. Headaches may occur on one of the two sides of the head because the GB meridian zigzags the head and during stress/tension it becomes like a vice.

The general function is to bring mental clarity and the power to focus, plan and make decisions.

Quick Check & Self Help: Very easy to do -  hold both 14’s (along the base of the rib cage below the sternum and off to the side a couple inches). Remember too to take nice full, deep breaths and hold a positive mindset.

As we get closer to spring, the quiet inner reflective time of winter begins to move towards the birth that spring always brings.

This month we are peeking into the Umbilicus Flow, also known as the Triple Heater, which connects spirit and body through breath and blood. It is symbolized as the “doorway” between the spirit world and the physical world. It brings the spirit’s fire force into physical form.

Another aspect to this meridian is to govern the fight or flight response, Continue reading

And yes, you can work on yourself or use these points to work on a client. It is common for me to hold the Bladder Points on someone with a lot of back side issues. It is also easy to teach them to do it for themselves.

This month – the Kidney Meridian

Do you notice any of these tendencies in yourself? Many of these tendencies are also shared with the Bladder Meridian, as they are both water elements, but with Kidney you may notice more panic attacks, denial, anger, fear of failure, perfectionism, insecurity, resentment and mistrustfulness.

Or specifically you may notice: Water retention, blood pressure problems, congestion, esophagus swollen at top, mouth feverish, phlegm, eczema, sweaty hands and feet, hungry but nothing appeals, intestinal issues, plantar fasciitis, bone spur, gout.

What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a Japanese healing art that dates back at lease 5,000 years. Virtually all traditional healing systems – from Ayurvedic to Greek and Chinese – are founded on the principle that in order to heal the body, the person must strengthen and balance the flow of life energy within.

The human energies are a network of functions that govern every aspect of being alive, from the thoughts we think, to the food we digest, to making our heart beat. Their job is to circulate energy to build, protect and repair. They follow very specific pathways, just like our circulatory and nervous systems.

When the energy circulates easily and abundantly, body, mind and spirit are all nourished. But when the flow becomes blocked, constricted or stagnant, disharmony results. Consider these flows like a river. When the river is flowing, it delivers life-giving water and nutrients to the river bottom and surrounding banks. The nearby areas become fertile. On the other hand, when the flow is too constricted or too turbulent, they do not nurture their surrounds in the same way. Areas that were once fertile now dry up. Or eddies can form and the water spills over its banks. Certain areas become unnecessarily flooded, thereby depriving other regions of their fundamental needs.

The body can regenerate and restore when the energy is flowing. With Jin Shin, we work with the acupressure points on the body using light touch to release stress and tension in the meridians to allow the free flow of life force energy once again.
